We make tools for roasters

First Crack is desktop roasting software for specialty coffee — built so profiles, live curves, and the next shift live in one place, not in a spreadsheet, a browser tab, or someone’s head.

What we do

First Crack is a native desktop application for specialty coffee roasteries. It connects to machines via Modbus and Phidget, shows live BT/ET/RoR, and covers batch history, profiles, greens, and day planning — so the floor and the office share the same record.

HQ is in Seoul; the team is remote-first and ships weekly on macOS and Windows, with cloud sync when you’re off the floor. We focus on production roasteries that can’t afford a drifting cup — not generic SaaS dashboards bolted onto USB.

Supported paths include Probat · Giesen · Diedrich · Delta / Autonics controllers · and Artisan-compatible machines. Setup guides live in our machine docs.

How we work
The best roasting software comes from understanding the craft itself — not from copying generic SaaS patterns.

We’re a small team based around Seoul and remote collaborators across time zones. We ship weekly, talk to users on the floor, and expect every hire to learn to roast — because software should earn its place next to the machine, not above it.

What we stand for

01

Floor-first

Desktop-native, low-latency, offline-capable — built for the machine room, not a browser tab.

02

Reproducible

Every batch logged, searchable, and comparable. Consistency is the product.

03

Ship weekly

Small team, short loops. Features reach roasters in days, not quarters.

04

Craft matters

Every hire learns to roast. You build tools for a craft you've practiced yourself.

Built for real machines

Industrial protocols and desktop installers — not a web dashboard with a USB adapter. See setup docs.
